[...] Amsterdam is pretty cool, minus my presence in the placebo group. If I ever come to Europe again, I will have to try to find a way to get my body off EDT. Turns out going west is ok, because sleeping in is ok, and getting up at 6 AM or earlier is ok, but going east? I have not been successful, all week, in forcing myself to sleep before 6 AM local time (midnight EDT). Getting up at 8 or 9 AM, therefore, is an exercise in avoiding my body’s lies and trickery, an exercise, I might add, that I am failing at, in significant ways. [...]

Yet another classic post.

As for the jet lag, the only thing I've found to work from NY->Amsterdam, is taking no more than a 2hr nap mid day (can not go over)... then struggling through the rest of the day (at least until 9-10PM), sleep a normal night... then go back to normal routine. Other than that, all these "solutions" are all bogus IMHO. Worst of all is the "adjust before you leave"... just makes you more tired before you start your trip.
