would you mean this please, if it happens
I’ve been thinking about switching the mail system on bitchcake to use maildir instead of mbox format, mainly so that I can use a version of webmail that doesn’t take six months to open my wife’s old inbox. “This page”:http://www.pocock.com.au/linux-doc/mbox-maildir.html makes it sound like a man of even my meagre talents could handle it, and probably without losing anyone’s mail!
Should I be resisting this urge?
Goodness no. Switch. Use IMAP. But be prepared to do some fiddling with settings on the client.
I prefer courier-imap, myself, but that’s just me. If I can help at all, let me know. I’m ready to convert cthulu over to postfix with a SQL or LDAP (I can’t decide, I love the idea of using a directory to store everything as it should be, but SQL is easier - I’ll eventually side with LDAP for production, I’m sure) backend, squirrelmail with all its joyous plugins, and sa/razor admined per user through said joyous plugins. And as an added bonus, I won’t have to worry about fuckass EMC gear blowing everything up - if it borks, it’ll be all my fault.
If I can assist, please feel free to call on me.
hey look - I have the short term memory of Dory and managed to repeat myself in under 500 characters. yay me - I rock.
Man, I wish I could speak whale.
Yes. You need maildir. As a person who works(ah!) on mail clients I can assure you anyone creating mboxes on this day and age should floged.
